The Sankalp Group is a well-established business in the Hospitality Industry in Australia. The Group has over 150 fully operational restaurants across the world.
We are looking for an experienced Cook/Chef to work in our restaurant in Sankalp Surfers Paradise | Queensland. The position offered is permanent full-time position and the Cook will be required to work late evenings, weekends and public holiday.
The successful applicant should hold at least Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent and have at least 1-year relevant work experience. You should be an outstanding team player, helpful, reliable and has the skill set and experience to perform the following duties:
The duties and responsibilities for the position of Cook
* Being strongly familiar with different types of meats and their cooking times;
* Being well versed in planning menus, establishing size of food portions, estimating food requirements and costs, and ordering supplies;
* Being skilled in preparing food for cooking and adding appropriate seasoning;
* Being experienced in performing food quality inspections to ensure that all food items conform to hygiene standards;
* Having aesthetic skills aimed at arranging and presenting food in a manner pleasing to the eye and discussing food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitians and kitchen and waiting staff
* Having solid knowhow of carving and preparing different types of meats for boiling, frying and steaming;
* Being competent at mixing the right amount of ingredients according to weight and type;
* Having a track record of operating big ovens and cooking ranges;
* Being highly experienced in performing preventative and general maintenance on kitchen equipment;
* Having hands-on experience in handling cooking staff efficiently and directing it to ensure handling of kitchen functions;
* Being able to follow best hygiene and sanitation practices aimed at providing quality food services;
* Being focused in trying and testing new recipes to add new items to existing menus and demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
* Being able to prepare specialized health food items;
* Being acquainted with handling kitchen functions such as supplies and inventory management and cooking staff schedules and records:
* may select and train staff and may freeze and preserve foods
* Being able to maintain accurate inventory and records of food, supplies and utensils and committed to maintain a clean kitchen and work area.

Base Annual Salary $75,000.00 to 76,000.00 plus superannuation based on experience and skill set.
