Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville.Flights are direct to the onsite airport, and the mine is only 3.5 km from camp—the perfect distance for a sunset walk or run home along a purpose-built walking track. The onsite accommodation includes meal services, sports/gym facilities, swimming pool, music room, and social area.WHAT SOUTH32 OFFERS Ability to purchase up to 4 weeks of additional annual leave.26 weeks full-paid, or 52 weeks half-paid parental leave for primary carers.Annual short-term incentive bonus that recognises both your individual performance and the overall success of the business.Discounted rates on travel, healthcare, and technology products.ABOUT THE ROLE We have multiple permanent roles available on a 7:7 roster, 12.5hrs Dayshift/Nightshift, FIFO from Townsville/Brisbane/Cairns or DIDO from Mount Isa, Cloncurry and McKinlay shires.There is a clean-shaven policy at Cannington and smoking is not permitted during work hours. As the Development Service Crew Operator, you will be responsible for maintaining and installing underground services while contributing to a positive and safety-focused team environment.Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:Safely operate Integrated Tool Carriers.Install, maintain, and repair of underground services, including ventilation bags, electrical cables, and submersible pumps.Assist with construction of ventilation walls, conducting gas testing, cable tensioning, and performing specific tasks using hand tools.ABOUT YOU Prior experience with Development Service Crew.18 months of underground experience is essential.Must have the right to work in Australia.A commitment to a positive safety culture.Qualifications for this position are:First Aid/CPR Certificate (or be willing to obtain).South32 is committed to building and maintaining an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the communities in which we operate.
