Illawarra Metallurgical Coal (IMC) produces premium-quality, hard coking coal for steelmaking, which is transported within Australia and around the world. We operate two underground metallurgical coal mines, two preparation plants and a logistics chain.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a Permanent position based at our Appin mine, which is near the coastal city of Wollongong, NSW, and approximately 75 kilometres southwest of Sydney.
As the Manager Maintenance, you will be responsible for leading and managing Appin Mine as part of the Leadership Team, driving the development and implementation of strategies for the Maintenance department to achieve key strategic and commercial outcomes.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
4. Collaborate with senior management to define and implement Appin Mine's strategic direction and commercial outcomes.
5. Provide leadership and support to the Maintenance department, ensuring performance aligns with the 24-Month Production Forecast.
6. Oversee maintenance planning, project execution, and compliance to achieve equipment availability and schedule targets.
7. Develop and maintain the 12-Month Maintenance and Engineering Rolling Plan in line with production forecasts.
8. Promote safety and accountability while upholding South32’s values and ensuring cost-effective maintenance execution.
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
9. Substantial experience in underground coal mine maintenance.
10. Proven leadership in managing mining operations and cross-functional teams.
11. Strong strategic thinking and planning to develop and implement effective maintenance strategies.
12. Ability to deliver production forecasts and manage departmental performance against key outcomes.
13. Commitment to safety and compliance, with a track record of maintaining operational standards and procedures.
14. Demonstrated skills in coaching and mentoring to enhance employee engagement and organisational capability.
Qualifications for this position are:
15. Tertiary or trade qualification in a relevant engineering field
16. NSW Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Manager certification desirable
17. Frontline management qualification
