The Role: The Clinical Nurse Specialist - Intensive Care Liaison (CNS) is a clinical expert who acts as a clinical/educational resource for nursing, medical and allied health staff involved in the management of patients with complex care needs and who are at risk of clinical deterioration within the ward setting.
A key role of the position is to develop and maintain collaborative links between nursing, medical and allied health staff and the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The CNS acts as a bridge between the skills and resources of the ICU and the ward environment, supporting continuity of care and patient flow, minimising relocation stress for patients and their families.
The CNS will identify quality improvement or research activities on a hospital wide approach and implement appropriate strategies to improve practice.

The Team: The ICU at North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) is an 8 bed Level 2 ICU, providing critical care services to North West Tasmania.
The general case mix of patients may include: trauma patients, sepsis and multi system failure, post-operative complications, unstable angina/AMI, cardiac failure / arrythmias and respiratory failure.
Whilst our general case mix is adult, we do occasionally admit paediatric patients, generally for stabilisation prior to transfer to a tertiary centre.
ICU, NWRH has the capability of providing advanced invasive ventilation, haemodynamic support and continuous renal replacement therapy.
The Unit provides a rapid response (MET) Team and a nurse -led ICU Liaison Service.
Several staff hold post graduate qualifications in critical care and many opportunities are provided for ongoing professional development.
Details of Appointment Permanent, full and part time, shift work positions (fully rotational), working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing September 2023 Please note that hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $96,967 - $102,473 per annum + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Award 2019 Eligibility: Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria: Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable: Holds a relevant Post Graduate Critical Care Qualification or has a minimum of 5 years' experience in ICU as a senior clinician and is working towards a Post Graduate Critical Care Qualification The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer.
