This role reports to the Chief of Staff. We stay ahead of trends by constantly innovating, and we're crazy enough to believe we can reshape the industry.The RoleIn the first 30 days, you'll quickly get up to speed on the business, our finance stack, and our financial reporting. You'll work closely with the Chief of Staff to do financial reporting, budget vs actual reporting, software spend analysis, runway forecasting, accounting (revenue & expense recognition), GL recoding, and following up on receipts and invoices.By 60 days into the role, you'll be supporting sales & GTM analysis and operations that impact the finance side of Nexl including pipeline analysis, commission calculations, and SaaS metrics analysis and reporting.By 90 days, you'll be supporting the Chief of Staff on Board reporting and other adhoc strategic analysis.Within your first year, after you're across the financials and proven to be a safe pair of hands, you'll have the opportunity to support fundraising and M&A.Key ResponsibilitiesAI First Mindset: Leverage AI and technology to automate key areas of the finance function.Financial Reporting: Support financial reporting including budget vs actuals reporting, variance analysis, cash forecasting, and spend management.Accounting: Revenue & expense recognition, GL recoding, invoices & receipt follow-ups.Reconciliation Tasks: Support monthly reconciliation.Financial Modelling: Utilize Excel, Power BI, and other IT systems for strong financial modelling to support decision-making.Operations & Process Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of finance processes and procedures, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.Key CompetenciesAI Curious: Wants to work with AI whenever they can.Financial Acumen: Deep understanding of financial principles and practices, including financial planning, analysis, and reporting.Accounting Experience: Understanding of basic accounting principles including accrual accounting.Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze complex financial data and prepare insightful reports.Financial Modelling: Proficiency in financial modelling using Excel, Power BI, and other IT systems.Operational Support: Experience in performing operational finance tasks, including reconciliation and processing payments.Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and precision in financial activities and reporting.Problem-Solving: Innovative and effective solutions to address financial challenges.Collaboration: Effective partnership with cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives.Adaptability: Thriving in a dynamic startup environment, adapting quickly to changing priorities and needs.Process Improvement: Continuous refinement of financial processes and systems for efficiency and accuracy.QualificationsA minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting or finance, consulting, banking, or in the finance function of a technology company.University degree in Finance or Accounting or related discipline;Successful completion of an accounting designation is preferred (CA or CPA);Good understanding of AASB and IFRS;Highly proficient in Microsoft Office tools especially Excel (PowerBI is a bonus).The Work Culture At NexlHighly transparent with fortnightly (twice a month) all-company meetings - with direct insight into team updates, customer stories, hiring plans, and key metrics (NPS, Revenue, Financial Performance).You will have a core and close team around you, but you will also be exposed to and working directly with multiple departments - engineering, product, design, marketing, and sales.We're a remote-first culture with the ability to work at a co-working space if desired.A work-life balance you won't find elsewhere.Ability to participate in our Employee Stock Option Plan.Seniority levelEntry levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionFinance and SalesIndustriesSoftware Development
