Campbell Primary School (PS) are seeking to establish a pool of friendly and reliable Special Needs Education Assistants (EASN) for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements prior to the end of Term 4, 2024.
As a EASN you will, under teacher direction, assist in the delivery of education programs and in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Suitable applicants will assist the teacher in the delivery of planned education programs to assist students to reach their full potential through the development of their academic, social, emotional and physical skills including the operation of computers and digital technologies.
Within this role you would provide feedback when required on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals in special education. Suitable applicants will ideally possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. As a member of our team you should be friendly, approachable, flexible, and have a genuine interest in supporting students with educational needs, and pastoral care support.
Suitable applicants will ideally be caring, proactive, and responsive, and display the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as possess good written and oral communication skills to enable the implementation of individual or small group-based programs.
Suitable applicants will work alongside teachers to ensure the implementation of the school business plan and priorities using the agreed programs and strategies. The ability to work with small groups of students assisting them socially and academically is highly desirable.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
1. Good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
2. Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.
3. Good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
4. Ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
5. Knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents
6. Ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.

16. Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
Education Assistants working with Kindergarten students may be required to have, or be actively working towards, a Certificate lll in Education Support (or approved equivalent) in order to meet the educator-to-student ratio outlined in the National Quality Standard for Early Childhood Education and Care.
