Senior Mental Health ED/Mental Health Triage Clinician – PECT (Psychiatric Emergency Care Team)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 4, Social Work Grade 3, Occupational Therapist Grade 3 or Psychologist Level 3 to join the Psychiatric Emergency Care Team in the Emergency Department and Mental Health Telephone Triage on a full time or part time, ongoing basis.
Reporting to the Psychiatric Emergency Care Team Manager, the successful applicant will play an important role in the undertaking of a range of mental health clinical duties including the provision of high standard acute clinical assessment, evidence-based treatment and support consumers experiencing significant mental health difficulties and their carers/families.
The successful applicant will take ownership to undertake the following:
1. Leadership, direction and supervision for multi-disciplinary staff in service delivery to clients
2. Actively promote and implement the agreed model of care for the service
3. Take a leading role in the recruitment selection and induction of staff into the team in conjunction with the Manager
4. Deputise for the manager as required
5. Take a leading role with inter-agency liaison activities within the region
6. Monitor and maintain clinical systems and information management processes that support service delivery
7. Provide a front line service to the LRH Emergency Department (ED) including timely response in accordance with ED KPIs, advice and education to the ED staff
8. Conduct assessments in a timely manner and complete safety plans in collaboration with consumers, carers, significant others and when necessary, the multi-disciplinary team
9. Use current evidence-based interventions and collaborate with community organisations to meet identified needs
10. Monitor the consumers physical/medical state and associate treatments in conjunction with their mental state and associated treatments
11. Provide pharmacological/psychoeducation specific to the consumers requirements
12. Adhere to organisational documentation guidelines when recording treatment and support in a comprehensive, factual and sequential manner
13. Participation in and provision of clinician supervision

We are looking for candidates with:
19. Qualifications in either Mental Health Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Clinical Psychology
20. Minimum 4 years post registration experience in Mental Health
21. Experience working in acute adult services, triage service and/or mental health emergency department
22. The ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to mental health consumers
23. Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014, mental health conditions and treatment options
24. Capacity to work effectively within a team structure and as a sole clinician
25. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external services
26. Working knowledge of NSQHS
27. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
