YMAC’s RC&CS is a skilled and coordinated team of archaeologists, anthropologists, environmental scientists, land and sea management specialists, ranger coordinators, managers and administrators who contribute to the ongoing empowerment of our clients – Aboriginal communities and organisations throughout the Yamatji and Pilbara regions.YMAC is currently seeking a talented and committed Nyangumarta Female Ranger Coordinator to provide direction and leadership for a young group of Nyangumarta rangers in their on-country environmental and cultural management activities (from Eighty Mile Beach to the Great Sandy Desert) and at their main base located in Bidyadanga Community. This includes providing mentoring and coaching functions to the rangers and coordinating training activities with the training provider. This position will mainly focus on the female rangers currently operational, but will also regularly involve the coordination of the entire ranger group (male and female rangers).This position reports directly to the Nyangumarta Warrarn IPA Coordinator, under the guidance of the General Manager of the Nyangumarta Warrarn Aboriginal Corporation and the YMAC Land and Sea Management Program Manager.About You:We are looking for someone who is passionate and kind, holds great care and enthusiasm for Country, and loves to collaborate with like-minded people. We are looking for someone who enjoys challenges and has the ability to manage people in a cross cultural team environment.The ideal candidate will have qualifications and/or experience in Natural Resource Management, anthropology, archaeology, community services or relevant field, demonstrated experience and confidence with working with Aboriginal communities (or other First Nations people), and/or coordinating on-the-ground natural and/or cultural resource management projects, preferably with Aboriginal organisations.Position Responsibilities:Provide daily leadership, coordination and supervision of the Nyangumarta Ranger Group in their land and sea management duties, consistent with the Nyangumarta Warrarn IPA Management Plan, with a particular focus on the female rangers.Coordinate the design and implementation of the Nyangumarta ranger annual work plans for the protection and promotion of the natural and cultural heritage.Support and develop the ranger group in their formal and on-the-job training activities.Coordinate and manage the ranger group budget and fee for service opportunities to gradually ensure full time employment of all rangers on the team.Integrate traditional ecological knowledge with modern land and sea management practice, for the long-term conservation and promotion of natural and cultural values identified in the Nyangumarta Warrarn IPA management plan.Liaise with existing and potential clients (Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, Federal Department for Agriculture and Water Resources, pastoral stations, resource companies, etc.) in delivering services in land and sea management.Promote responsible work practices to ensure a healthy and safe work environment while on country.Report to and liaise with the Nyangumarta Warrarn Aboriginal Corporation, the PBC holding the Native Title rights and interests.What YMAC Offers:YMAC believes in providing a safe and supportive working environment, and the best way to do that is to ensure our employees are well-looked after.
