Reporting to the Network Engineering Manager, Duties will involve network operations management, planning and maintenance; lead and execute network changes. The succesfull candidate will also be a key SME resource on projects delivering networks for Coles’s datacentres, store support centres, distribution centres, technical fulfilment centres, and retail locations.Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Lead Network Engineer, you will Lead the configuration design, development, testing, and support of existing and new technical services. Analyze and identify areas for continuous improvement, implementing updates and executing changes. Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on network projects and provide technical guidance for large-scale lifecycle management of network infrastructure Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot network health, capacity, and performance using advanced network management tools. Define and implement enterprise-level network services in a large-scale, complex environment. Produce and maintain detailed network diagrams, in-depth designs, and handover support documentation. Ensure day-to-day operations, planning, and maintenance of Coles’ core network technologies, including Cisco ACI, SDA, routers, Nexus and Catalyst switches. ADVA dense-wave-division-multiplexers. Radware Alteon load balancers. Infoblox DDI. Akamai DNS. ExperienceWhat We’re Looking For 10+ years of expertise in routing, switching, and LAN/WAN protocols. Proven experience with Cisco technologies including ACI, SDA, SD-WAN, APIC, Catalyst Center, ISE, and vManage. Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools such as Cisco Prime, ThousandEyes, and Extrahop. Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and initiatives in a large-scale business environment. Technical Skills Expert-level knowledge of routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, STP, etc.). Strong hands-on expertise in DNS, DHCP, and IPAM technologies, particularly Infoblox. Proficiency in network automation and scripting using Python, Terraform, and Ansible. Competence in load balancing technologies, specifically Radware Alteon. Deep understanding of security frameworks and standards (Essential8, CIS, NIST, PCI, etc.). Attributes Exceptional problem-solving capabilities with a focus on simplification. A strong understanding of technology trends affecting networks and security. Ability to deliver detailed designs and comprehensive documentation for implemented solutions.
