Key responsibilities include providing health care for ill or injured students, maintaining student records and using clinical knowledge and judgment when providing care.Key Responsibilities Assess students requiring medical attention.Administer first aid to students and staff as required, respond to emergency medical situations ensuring appropriate immediate medical attention and follow-up action.Record the clinic visits of each student/patient.Maintain accurate student medical information and records in conjunction with other team members.Maintain accurate and up-to-date individual student health care and emergency care plans for students with special care needs in consultation with parents and/or physicians.Administer medications in compliance with physician orders and/or instructions.Order supplies and materials as needed in order to ensure an efficient and effective functioning work area.Maintain a good rapport with local supporting health services, including general and specialist practitioners to assist boarding students with their health care needs.Provide training to staff on various health-related subjects (Asthma, Diabetes, EpiPen) advising of management plans and procedures in the case of medical emergencies.Compilation of data and reports as required by the Deputy Principal.Manage the day-to-day work flow in an intelligent and flexible way, allowing for the many unscheduled interruptions that occur. Make decisions, and handle unexpected situations in a mature and professional manner. Be self-directed, yet able to work as a member of a team.Support activities e.g. Sports Day, Graduation Night etc.Be flexible in taking on varied tasks as required.Ensure all OHS guidelines are complied with.Actively pursue best practice in the areas of responsibilities, through professional development.Adhere to College Policies and practices.Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of First Aid rooms, including bedding etc.Key Selection Criteria Excellent communication skills with the ability to relate well to children and young women, and remain professional and helpful to all parents and carers.Maintain strict confidentiality and privacy of information.Impartial and objective in all dealings with the students and parents.Strong computer skills, including knowledge of (or ability to learn) TASS and Microsoft Office programs as well as familiarity with using data base management systems.Preparedness to keep up-to-date with technological developments.Efficient and timely completion of designated tasks.Demonstrated initiative in resolving problems. Qualifications and Experience Current Nursing Registration with a minimum Enrolled Nurse qualification.General Nursing.Experience as a School Nurse would be highly regarded.Required Certification.Anaphylaxis certificate.
