OSA Engineering is seeking an experienced Power Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team in North Sydney, NSW for a Full Time Position. Join our team at OSA and become a key player in shaping the future for power generation and renewable energy connections.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide technical design input to the grid connection, substation and overall design of the generator connection including (Wind, Solar and other)
* Carry out initial feasibility studies for Chapter 5 and Chapter 5A connection studies
* Carry out connection studies in PSSE, PSCAD, SINCAL and PowerFactory as required by the NSPs and the NER rules for Chapter 5 and Chapter 5A generator connections
* Maintain good relations and communications with external stakeholders including AEMO, NSPs, OEMs and other relevant consultants
* Lead communications with 3rd parties during connection application meetings including NSPs, OEMs and AEMO on modelling and connection standards.
* Negotiate connection / performance standards with NSPs and AEMO
* Work together with internal and external stakeholders to meet grid connection application requirements.
* Prepare documentation and data related to the grid connection applications for Chapter 5 and Chapter 5A
* Mentor and provide guidance to junior staff (if applicable)
Requirements
* Bachelor’s in electrical engineering or a related field (Higher education is highly valued)
* Minimum 2 years of work experience in the renewable industry in Australia
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in PSSE and PSCAD for modelling generator connections
* Experience in SINCAL is highly valued
* Experience in PowerFactory is highly valued
* Proficient in Python scripting for automation of model assessment.
* Experience in connecting projects to the NEM through the AEMO connections process.
* Understanding of AEMO, TNSP and DNSPs grid connection processes for generator connections and connection requirements
* Experience in power quality and harmonic assessments in PowerFactory is highly valued
* Understanding of general arrangement and design of a generator connection
* Highly effective communication skills to liaise with internal and external customers and sound negotiation and influencing skills.
* Ability to work as an effective team member
* Self-motivation with a strong desire to complete tasks and meet key milestones.
