How will I help?
As a Senior Data Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting strategic decisions within our KYC/AML program. Collaborating closely with Business Analysts, you will source, analyse, and present data to various stakeholders, helping to shape the future of the Westpac Group's financial crime profile.
Your primary goal is to deliver high-quality data insights and analytics that will enable effective decision-making. You'll work in a dynamic environment, utilizing your technical expertise to streamline processes, automate workflows, and enhance reporting accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Business Analysts to define data requirements, source information from both standard and unconventional data environments, and deliver clear, actionable insights.
Translate complex business logic into maintainable SQL and Excel processes, ensuring all data outputs are accessible and understandable by non-technical teams.
Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement, leveraging your data expertise to increase business efficiency.
Prepare detailed status reports and provide data-driven analysis of program performance, presenting multiple approaches with associated pros and cons.
Take ownership of the technical solutions, overseeing data files for remediation purposes and conducting deep dives into data elements to assess impact.
Identify gaps in the current risk and compliance frameworks and recommend actionable improvements, with a focus on implementation.
Engage heavily with stakeholders, including leadership and cross-functional teams, to translate project requirements into effective data flows and reporting.
What do I need?
Demonstrated experience in data analysis, preferably in a financial crime or financial services setting. Experience in large banks or specialised operations teams is highly valued.
Proficiency in SQL (Teradata experience is a plus) and experience in large-scale enterprise data warehouses.
Strong skills in data visualisation tools, particularly Power BI, to create meaningful dashboards and reports.
Familiarity with Python for data manipulation and automation, along with VBA for process automation.
Experience using GitHub/Bitbucket for code management and version control.
Exposure to working with complex business entities, such as Trusts and Partnerships, is a bonus.
Experience with the Control-M Automation API to automate scheduling processes and integrate with other enterprise systems.
Proven ability to develop and optimise automation scripts to streamline workflows, reduce manual interventions, and enhance efficiency.
Solid understanding of DevOps practices, leveraging tools like Jenkins, Ansible, and Git for pipeline automation and version control.
