PRIMARY DETAIL • Salary Package: $138,679 - $146,466 p.a. plus 17% super and annual leave loading • Appointment Type: Full-time, continuing position • Location: Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde, Macquarie University The Role This position leads MQ Health's Safety and Risk team, overseeing workplace health and safety and injury management programs, and operational risk management. The role is central to achieving optimal safety outcomes for our people and stakeholders, while supporting MQ Health's strategic goals through collaborative, practical, and effective work health and safety and operational risk management. Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, the role involves leading a small team providing leadership, direction, advice and end-to-end management of workplace health and safety and injury management programs; providing timely accurate data and reports on safety key performance indicators to help inform operational management decision-making, and ensuring alignment with the needs of the MQ Health Board, Executive, and Committees. Additionally, the position will drive the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our safety and risk management policies, procedures, systems, resources, education, training, and reporting to enhance workplace safety across the organisation. About You With experience in the Healthcare industry, you will possess strong organisational and project management skills, allowing you to balance competing deadlines while remaining focused on the organisation's objectives. You will thrive in a busy, high-volume and complex environment, providing practical advice in collaboration with the business to meet its evolving needs. With people management experience, you’ll bring leadership to a small team, fostering collaboration and driving results. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Manage and drive the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the MQ Health Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) AND the MQ Health Operational Risk Management Framework, Policy, Procedures, and systems. Support the WHS Advisor in the development and management of a manual handling program which considers equipment, processes, and training. Provide day-to-day support for the MQ Health’s radiation safety activities, Support the Injury Management Coordinator in the development and implementation of an injury management and return to work program for the injured workers and the needs of MQ Health, Provide advice and regular reports to the Chief Executive, MQ Health. Provide regular reports to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) for inclusion in University WHS and risk reporting including monitoring performance against the WHS strategic plan, annual plans, as well as quarterly committee and board reporting requirements. Proactively develop, deliver and drive engagement at all levels including provision of support, advice and training to staff and managers. Proactively manage the relationship and engage with all internal parties and external bodies including but not limited to SafeWork NSW, insurers, legal advisors and auditors. Provide strong leadership, motivation and support to the MQ Health Safety and Risk Team while ensuring taking a collaborative and hands-on approach to service delivery. Exceptional report-writing skills will be vital in providing clear, accurate, and concise documentation.
