About the Role
We are looking for an Assistant Accountant who is fluent in Mandarin & English to join our holding company Finance team, where you will be working with colleagues based locally in Melbourne as well as in Hong Kong & Beijing. In this busy and interesting role you will have the opportunity gain an understanding of the construction industry, the relevant accounting treatments and the risk profile from a financial perspective.
You will be responsible for preparing statements and reports to ensure accuracy and conformance to reporting, procedural standards and statutory compliance. You will prepare, examine and analyse financial, accounting and tax information, and assist in providing accurate, pragmatic advice to the business focussed on adding value whilst maintaining an acceptable level of risk. The day-to-day the focus of your responsibilities will be on bookkeeping, expense claims and the preparation of financial reports including month end, quarter year and half year financial statements.
This role is based in our landmark offices on Flinders Street.
What you will do;
1. Ensure expenses and invoices are processed in a timely manner
2. Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and action outstanding balances
3. Preparation of the full end of month process, ensure accounts are reconciled monthly and variances are actioned
4. Prepare income and balance sheet statements, and prepare and/or consolidate other accounting statements and reports as required
5. Analyse financial reports and information to ensure compliance to internal policies and statutory requirements, make recommendations for effective financial management of revenue and expenditure to reduce costs and meet budgets
6. Assist with the development of operating budgets using data supplied, such as actual performance, previous budget figures, estimated revenue and expense reports
7. Maintain the English version of reporting packs from parent company and update them when templates change
8. Prepare, review, and disseminate month-end reports to appropriate personnel
9. Provide administrative support which may include arranging and attending meetings, conferences, functions, taking and distributing minutes, and making travel and accommodation arrangements
What we are looking for;
10. Tertiary qualifications in Accounting
11. Either CA or CPA qualified, or currently studying toward CA or CPA qualification
12. Experience working in a large, complex corporate environment
13. Strong general administration and coordination experience
14. Advanced use of the Microsoft Office suite products
15. Ideally experienced with Workday software
16. Fluent Mandarin and fluent English
