The role
At ALS, our safety team is passionate about providing practical guidance, technical advice, and tailored support. We partner with our site leadership team to achieve workable outcomes for our employees and the business.
We are looking for a passionate, driven, and organized HSE Advisor to play a key role in achieving our core principle: We are Safe. We seek a hands-on workplace health and safety enthusiast to help drive our safety culture.
You will be required to work full-time, Monday to Friday, at our Malaga facility and travel to multiple sites in Perth and Kalgoorlie.
Working with the HSE Manager, this role will allow you to make a real difference. You must be prepared to roll up your sleeves and get involved but be equally comfortable working with and influencing senior management.
Responsibilities
* Provide support to management and staff. Consult, advise and enforce site safety policies and procedures.
* Undertake HSE inspections and safety audits.
* Conduct accident investigations, identify causes and corrective actions.
* Support managers and employees with injury prevention and management.
* Conduct and coordinate HSE training for staff to promote and reinforce a positive safety culture.
* Manage and develop risk assessments.
* Monitor and record hazard observations, near misses, and injuries.
* Keep abreast of safety and industry best practices and offer ideas for continuous improvement.
* Review the local safety system to ensure compliance with company standards, keeping records and logs up to date, and reporting any issues or concerns to management.
* Work with the national HSE team to ensure alignment across laboratories.
* Weekly travel to multiple sites in Perth and Kalgoorlie.
The essentials
* Formal qualifications (Cert IV minimum) and previous experience in HSE.
* Confidence in your knowledge and ability, which helps you quickly build rapport and trust at all levels of the organization.
* Passion, enthusiasm, and goal-driven.
* Experience in incident investigations, risk assessments, and auditing.
* Organized, level-headed, and have a common-sense approach.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Computer proficient in e-mail, MS Word, and Excel.
* Strong computer and numeracy skills are a must.
* Attention to detail and a commitment to compliance.
* An ability to work cooperatively with team members and management.
* A working knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environment legislation and standards.
* Previous experience in a laboratory environment would be advantageous.
