We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Histology Scientist to oversee, prepare, and analyse tissue samples for microscopic examination, utilising techniques such as grossing whole specimens, embedding, microtomy, staining, and immunohistochemistry to ensure accurate and reliable diagnostic results.
Key ResponsibilitiesOversee and perform advanced tissue preparation and testing using various techniques, including grossing whole specimens, embedding, microtomy, staining, and immunohistochemistry.Provide high-quality and timely tissue slides to anatomical pathologists to assist with clinical decisions, ensuring precision and accuracy in all preparations.Ability to use cryostat to perform frozen sections and routine immunofluorescence.Document processing accurately and promptly, ensuring all records are maintained to the highest standards.Lead and perform regular maintenance and basic troubleshooting on instrumentation, equipment, and manual techniques, ensuring optimal functionality and minimal downtime.Participate in and sometimes lead regular training sessions on relevant techniques and instrument operation, while engaging in ongoing departmental competency programs and external quality assurance initiatives.Maintain meticulous records of all laboratory activities, including test results, quality control data, and equipment maintenance logs.Collaborate closely with colleagues and the Chief Scientist to identify areas for improvement and implement workflow enhancements, driving continuous laboratory improvement.About YouTo be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:
