The role sits within the Data and Performance Reporting team that is accountable for delivering the new data management strategy, performance monitoring, records management and data analysis and reporting.

The Role
This is a diverse role combining management (prioritising, upskilling, mentoring, engagement) with some hands-on data work.
Your role will involve:
* Supporting the delivery of the Agency’s data analysis and strategic and operational reporting needs through managing the data helpdesk
* Engaging with business areas across the organisation including non-technical audiences to better understand exactly what they need, not necessarily what they ask for. For example “You asked for XYZ and here it is, but what I think you will find useful or may answer the real question is ABC”
* Ensuring ongoing data integrity through data validation activities while ensuring key data is captured and maintained appropriately
* Providing leadership and support to the team and potential A/g ( formally or informally) for the Director in their absence which will provide you with tangible career progression
* Producing a variety of data artefacts from ad hoc requests to (draft) board papers
The Ideal Person
This role would suit a:
* Substantive EL1 looking for a new challenge
* An A/g EL1 looking to continue to advance and round out your skills
* A contractor, consultant or someone from the private sector otherwise searching for a long-term engagement in the APS
You have solid data skills across Excel and any of the visualisation tools. Nice to haves include SQL & R.
You have experience managing small teams and are skilled at communicating to both technical and non-technical audiences in addition to acting as the conduit between the two.
You take a pragmatic approach to implementing and working towards best practice towards data analysis and quality.
You get satisfaction in getting better data outcomes by making processes work more efficiently.
Australian Citizenship is mandatory.
Salary / Rate
This role is being offered as
* s26 transfer (temp or permanent)
* 12 month – 18 non-ongoing EL1 or temp transfer salary $120k – $129k + 15.4% Super
* Long term labour hire contract ASAP – 30/6/26 + extension ($75.95/hr to $82.68/hr + 11.5% Super)
