Selection Criteria
SC1: Demonstrated qualifications and experience/ability to instruct and support the learning of brass instruments in a school setting.
SC2: Demonstrated high level of competence and experience as an instrumental teacher. Possess a deep knowledge of a variety of different styles of music.
SC3: Demonstrated high level of oral and written communication skills including the capacity to develop constructive relationships with students, parents and other staff members.
SC4: Demonstrated technical knowledge and expertise relevant to the Instrumental Music Teaching position.
SC5: Previous experience supporting and promoting Instrumental Music programs in schools.
SC6: Demonstrated commitment and capacity to actively contribute to a broad range of school activities and commitment to ongoing professional learning and growth.
Role
Lilydale High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Instrumental Brass Music Teacher to join our music education team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in brass instruments (such as trumpet, trombone, French horn or tuba) and a commitment to nurturing students' musical skills, confidence, and enjoyment of playing brass.
Responsibilities
The applicant is expected to:
Be fully qualified to teach elected instrument/s from beginner level to VCE.
Have a comprehensive understanding of the Victorian Music Curriculum and VCE music and how instrumental music will contribute to student achievement.
Be able to teach both individuals and groups of students.
Work individually and in a team environment and assist with the development of the instrumental music programs planning and projects.
Promote the instrumental music program and assist with the recruitment of students into the program.
Be available for planning, performance and rehearsals and assist in the organising of school music events.
Conduct a school ensemble.
Monitor student progress, maintain records including attendance, behaviour and academics within school guidelines for reporting.
Timetable students on Compass Management System and produce up to date timetables.
Check and maintain instruments.
Collect students from their class if they do not arrive in 5 minutes.
Who May Apply
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

VIT LANTITE
To be eligible for employment, transfer or promotion in the principal or teacher class a person must have provisional or full registration from the Victorian Institute of Teaching. In addition, from 3 August 2020, to be eligible for employment in the principal class or teacher class, a person who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education program after 1 July 2016, must demonstrate that they have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements.
