Northam Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a hardworking and motivated Deputy Principal to join their very capable team.
About the position
The successful applicant will provide educational leadership in the school and the community by promoting the school vision, values and priorities, and fostering sustainable partnerships with parents, carers and community stakeholders. They will ideally use effective change management strategies to assist the school community to develop opportunities for improved service. The successful applicant will work collaboratively as part of the school’s Executive Team to provide educational leadership, innovation and strategic planning to build, develop and maintain a positive school culture. The position of Deputy Principal at Northam SHS works collaboratively within negotiated areas of responsibility based on their strengths and skillset but is expected to encompass a range of Lower School and Senior School requirements from student case management, wellbeing and social emotional learning to WACE and VET tracking and SCSA reporting. The successful applicant should possess appropriate knowledge and transferable skills that would allow them to lead portfolios as needed.
This role will be well suited to an exemplary and high performing secondary leader who has a strong track record in managing change in developing a culture of reflection, collaboration and innovation in the classroom. The successful applicant will have experience in leading Quality Teaching and Learning. Ideally you will be an expert in current pedagogical research and the role that leaders play in transforming learning. They will lead the school’s focus on Teaching for Impact and support pedagogical best practice. The successful applicant will establish a high expectation and high care culture through a deep understanding of how to coach beginning and experienced staff and build their confidence to explore and excel in cultivating their practices.
The successful applicant will effectively use evidence-based data to inform decision-making and will possess a contemporary understanding of leading school improvement. They will play a significant role in the daily management of staff and student wellbeing and may have responsibility for management, or shared management, of timetabling if needed.
