About the Role:
The High Voltage Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of high voltage electrical systems within the Metro Trains Sydney network. This role requires expertise in managing and maintaining electrical equipment to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the metro rail system. The technician will work closely with other maintenance teams to uphold safety standards and minimize system downtime. The roster is 4 days/nights with 4 days off between shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Adhere to safety protocols and procedures, ensuring compliance with Australian & EnerMech electrical safety standards and Metro Trains Sydney regulations.
2. Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out with strict adherence to safe work practices and PPE requirements.
3. Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance on high voltage systems, including transformers, switchgear, cables, and associated equipment.
4. Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in high voltage equipment and systems, ensuring timely repairs to minimize service disruptions.
5. Conduct testing and inspections to identify potential issues before they cause system failures.
6. Respond to emergency call-outs for high voltage system failures or faults, providing quick and effective solutions to restore service.
7. Provide technical guidance and support to other team members, including third parties and less experienced technicians.
8. Collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders to resolve complex electrical issues.
Qualifications & Experience:
9. NSW Electrical trade qualification
10. Certification or licensing in high voltage systems.
11. Strong understanding of Australian electrical safety standards and regulations.
12. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
13. White card
14. CPR/LVR
15. Drivers Licence
16. Must be able to pass a pre- employment medical to include drug and alcohol test
17. Experience with metro rail systems or similar transport infrastructure. (Desirable)
18. Experience working with high voltage systems, preferably in a rail or transport environment. (Desirable)
