About us:Established in 2007, CDC Data Centres is Australia's leading operator of sovereign, secure, world-class data centre facilities.Headquartered in Canberra with multiple facilities in the ACT, NSW, VIC and New Zealand, CDC's diversified operations provide secure data centre configurations that support co-location, containerised and hyperscale compute environments with all campuses interconnected with high-speed carrier grade networks.At CDC we are passionate about creating an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity.We believe that everyone's unique experiences enable us to deliver meaningful benefits for our people, our clients and communities.Our mission is to attract, retain and grow the world's best data centre team.Our people are committed, tenacious and meticulous in supporting our customers.Together, we configure the landscape to meet the security, reliability, connectivity and sustainability needs for today and tomorrow.About the role:In this role, the Lead Service Technician will oversee a team of skilled technicians responsible for the maintenance, repair, and response of critical systems, including Electrical, Mechanical, and Fire services.The Lead Service Technician will manage daily maintenance activities, coordinating efforts between in-house technicians and third-party contractors.This role includes responding to system alerts, determining if escalations are necessary, and ensuring daily inspections are conducted to maintain the integrity of all critical infrastructure.The Lead Service Technician will also ensure that contractor and supplier access is properly supervised, processes and safety standards are followed, and accurate reporting is maintained during both routine and critical activities.Key Accountabilities: Supervise and coordinate preventative maintenance activities, including change management, CMMS work order management, and ensuring compliance with CDC policies and safety standards.Conduct pre-start meetings with contractors, manage shift rosters, and communicate work tasks to ensure Data Centres meet required coverage.Oversee the production, approval, and training of SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs, and mentor Service Technicians to address learning, development, and procedural gaps for continuous improvement.Manage and prioritise maintenance activities, ensuring completion of planned tasks, reviewing service reports, and updating CMMS systems.Support the Technical Services team in responding to service requests and emergency faults, troubleshooting, and coordinating repairs with suppliers and contractors.Identify, mitigate, and communicate risks promptly, provide repair timelines, and ensure issues from maintenance reports are addressed.Provide leadership, act as an ambassador for the company, and deputise for the Technical Services Manager as needed.Lead and contribute to team and stakeholder meetings, model CDC's DNA and Leadership Fundamentals, and perform other duties as required.About you: We are seeking a leader with experience in overseeing the day-to-day operations of Data Centres or similar facilities.Given CDC's growth trajectory, this position offers a clear path for career advancement into a more senior role, making it ideal for those with aspirations in this direction.Experience: Prior experience in Supervision or Coordination of staff, contractors and suppliers qualified to operate or maintain critical infrastructure and prioritising staff workload.Maintain critical infrastructure to prevent disruptions to clients and business operations.Coordinate maintenance activities across mechanical, electrical, and fire systems.Utilise electronic monitoring systems to manage site conditions, respond to alerts, and perform root cause analysis with precision.Excel in technical troubleshooting, process improvement, and clear communication with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, especially under pressure during system failures.Qualifications: Trade or Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Electrical – Refrigeration – Mechanical -
