With a culture based on our STRIVE values, our reputation for excellence in project delivery and safe, efficient and environmentally responsible operations continues to grow.About The Role As a Mining Engineer you will be accountable for providing engineering support including (but not limited to), designing, planning, scheduling and monitoring of overburden, coal removal and stockpiling across our Gunnedah Open Cut mines. The role is Dumps & Haulage focused and is critical in ensuring that the mining operations at Tarrawonga and Vickery are well-managed, cost-effective, and compliant with safety and environmental regulations.This role is considered local, so you will need to live in or relocate to the regional Gunnedah area of NSW. The roster will be based around a 9-day fortnight.What You'll Do Reporting to the Technical Services SuperintendentConsolidate and provide Mining information including forecasts of Mining for short and medium-term schedulingAssist survey / mine planning / geology in reconciliation of modelled quantities with mining outcomes for feedback into model and planEnsure effective controls are in place so dig/dump designs are followed, by working with the surveyor and ensuring GPS plans are available for supervisors & dozersEnsure production budget is met by effective planning, scheduling and coordination of activities relating to the mining fleetWhat You'll Bring Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or similarExperience in open cut coal mine engineeringRelationship management with a broad range of stakeholdersExperience using mine planning software – Vulcan/SPRY/Gantt Scheduler/MiplanAn ability to manage competing priorities simultaneously to meet multiple goalsWhy Whitehaven Coal?
